Hi - can anyone help?
We've got the original stone flag floor in our kitchen, which will date back to around 1850.
At somepoint over the past few years, the floor has been dug up to install central heating, and the original mortar has been replaced with standard cement. On top of this the original flags are flaking quite badly in places.
My questions are:
is it possible to dig out the horrible modern cement and replace with something more 'authentic' (and do a better job than mr bodgit did 15 years ago . . .)
can anything be done to stop the original flags from flaking?
Is it possible to 'seal' the floor in any way, while still letting it breathe?
Or, should i just get an expert in and be done with it?!?
