Hi guys. My old acrylic bathtub has got two little cracks that i would like to repair before i redo my bathroom next year. Toolstation do a bathroom repair kit @ 20.00 which sound a bit excessive. Could i use some clear silicon instead? The fix is just temporary.....i just want to stop the water sipping through till next spring. Thanks for your help.

Buy a fibreglass kit from screwfix or halfords for about a tenner and repair the crack from UNDERNEATH the bath. This will last until next year when you replace it.

you could try CT1, comes in a tube simlar to silicon so fits in a gun the same. bit expensive at £12 a tube but is very good. it sets under water and seals everything (apparently)

i would put a bead over the crack inside the bath, then spread it out, then cover the back of the crack underneath the bath too. spreading that out also. to reinforce the crack you could glue a piece of plywood to the underside if it is flat using the CT1.

you might have to ring round a few places to find it. i havent seen it in B&Q only my local merchants.
