I've been lurking for a while and gained some useful info from here, but now I have a question of my own.
The floor of my 1930s built garage is probably no more than 2" thick concrete with a smooth shiny finish. I think that finish is obtained by adding extra cement during curing/trowel finishing.
Anyway, the front couple of feet of the floor is badly cracked and the broken parts are tilted.
My intention is to replace the front 4 feet of the floor before I fit a new door.
It's the floor I need advice on.
Replacing part of the floor is probably not ideal but it's the way I must go.
How do I join the new to the old?
Can I inset a dpc? Viscreen?
How do I arrange the shuttering - I want the floor level up to the door bottom seal and then a slope to the drain channel that runs across the front of the garage. Do I lay the concrete in two separate lots?
What concrete mix?
How do I work out amounts of gravel/sand/cement?
Should I use and reinforcement steel?
I have a small mixer!
