Hi, Could anyone advise how I would repair this end of wall where I want to put a new garden gate onto. What materials would i use, is ther any prep required before I apply thematerials. I assumed i would just buy cement an bang it in there, but what do i know! :-) Any advice appreciated.

Thanks

Joe.

How big is the gate? Metal or wood?

I am guessing that there was a wooden post there- maybe on both sides

It was a wooden gate before, the other side isnt as bad. - I plan on putting in a metal gate, probably just double height of the wall.

Still not sure what to say,

probably source the gate first so that you know the width that you need to make up.
It is unlikely that the gate will be a perfect fit unless you have it made.

Use frame fixers to bolt wood onto both sides then clean the exposed brickwork and repair with concrete.
Dollop some diluted pva onto the wall so that the new concrete doesn't dry too quickly

You may need to do a first make good layer, followed by the top decorative one

just looking on advice what to use to finish the wall off as it should be. (not the gate stuff) - so put some diluted pva onto the wall then, just apply any concrete bought from B&Q.
Any specific brands, names i should look for? I dont have a scooby about this stuff :-)
thanks
