Hi DIYNot Plastering Forum,

Over the last few days, in my bedroom cupboard, I have had parts of the top coat of the plaster on the side walls come off, presumbly had blown and felt hollow after removing the fixings in there, it was due to be repaired soon, but, what happened after scraping the old plaster off the wall down to serviceable, unblown plaster, it all came off in fairly large chunks, after thought, I stripped the walls back to the base coat of plaster, I have attached some photos of the damage so far.

After reading up on it, I think I only need to re-skim the walls using a new coat of plaster, after applying a coat of PVA glue on the walls

I was thinking to repair the plaster is to use this as the new skim coat: http://www.wickes.co.uk/British-Gypsum-Thistle-Multi-Finish-Plaster-25kg/p/220056

Or would you recommend I use something along the lines of this: http://www.wickes.co.uk/Wickes-Ready-Mixed-Plaster-Skim-10kg/p/600243

Any help would be greatfully recieved!

Kind Regards,

Andrew :D

The multi finish is way better, but will perhaps take a bit more skill. Depends if you've done this before.
Rather than just diluted pva in this case, I'd consider a better bonding agent. Looks like your undercoat has emulsion on it which will be more tricky to get the skim to bond well to.
If you're getting your stuff from wickes, try http://www.wickes.co.uk/Wickes-Ready-Mixed-Plaster-Bonding-Agent-3kg/p/221807
