My 1930's pebbledashed stack is worn out, it's all solid but the stones are all off and the surface looks worn out. I was hoping to mix up a cement SBR slurry and paint this on, then in a weeks time bung on a coat of weathershield. I'm not looking to do a perfect repair job, but if this gives me another 10 years that'll do for me!..............whatd'ya think?

Jeez, is no-one going to answer this?........am I to be left to make my own decisions with the pathetically little rendering experience I've got, Richard C, Roughcaster etc etc where are you?

Hiya Bud, i bet you thought you had BO when nobody was replying to your post.

The best way would have been to prep it and re-pebbledash it, but as you say, with limited experience, the way you suggested sounds ok,,, it'll smarten it up anyway.
If it wasn't in such a high, awkward place to get up to, it would have been an ideal small job, for you to practice rendering/pebbledashing.

Cheers Roughcaster, out of interest, could I put 2 slurry coats on (extra protection) or won't the second one stick?

One slurry coat, and then put on a couple of coats of weathershield. The correct way as i said would be to prep and re-render/pebbledash the chimney stack, but for a temporary measure, the way you suggested will be enough to make it look smarter than it does now.
