Further to my post about refurbishing my Railway Room Railway Room (External) Insulation
http://www.diynot.com/forums/viewtopic.php?p=1195931#1195931

which is now work in progress I have started to look in more detail at the outside rendering.

It is clear that the initial rendering could have been done a lot better and thicker as there are sections where it has blown (but see comments on my earlier post above) and there are a couple of deep cracks mainly on a wall that doesn't get much sun.

Having fitted a new window there is also work required to repair around the window, which is smaller than the original.

I have no skill with plastering/rendering and although I have a friend helping me who says he can do limited patching I am wondering whether it would be best to get the whole building rendered.

If I have it rendered will all the old rendering need to be removed or can the new be laid over the parts where it has not blown?

Can anyone give me an idea of what sort of cost would be involved (labour and materials). The building itself is approx 12 foot by 10 foor less the window/door area.

Also, anyone care to recommend anyone in the Colchester, Essex are that would do good job at a sensible price.

Thanks

just how 'railway' do you want to go

how about stone bridge stantions, in render form? A tunnel style arch maybe??? Not as cheap as normalk render buy very very unique.
