Repairing stippled ceiling

Hi

I need to repair and paint a stippled ceiling above a shower area which is in a bedroom. The paint above the shower has flaked off due to dampness but the rest of the ceiling is ok. the area is about 1 square meter.

I was thinking of using textured paint applied using a stipple sponge or similar and then painting the whole ceiling. There are not enough funds for a re-plaster.

Any thoughts or advice would be appreciated

Many thanks

Is it artex or paint?

Prime the area first with thinned emulsion either way

I find it hard to repair stippled artex, broken leather etc is easy. Trouble is without buying the stippling tool its hard to match the pattern. Someone else my know a trick. The only other option i can think of (if its a small ceiling) is to re-do the whole thing thus making the pattern uniform.

You also need to know what type of Artex it is. If it's the type that looks like swirly drips I don't think you can get it now. Ready mixed like thick paint.

Ended up unibonding the ceiling first, then made up a mixture of paint, filler and unibond. Mixed it all up to a lumpy consistency then applied it to the ceiling using a brush. Let it dry for about 15 minutes then slightly smoothed it off with a wet brush. After painting it looked pretty good. Not sure how long it will last though.
