Hi I'm looking to upgrade my mums old back boiler system to a combi. I'm in the process of getting quotes for full install but was wondering if I buy a heating pack from somwhere like mr central heating and put the rads on the wall would the saving be worth it?

e.g. valiant ecotec pro 24 + 7 rads = £1215 (plastic pipes)

also is plastic good or is copper still king?

how much would the labour be to disconnect the back boiler then move the gasline to the kitchen and install the combi and rads (ball park figure)

Many thanks in advance

Many installers will not agree to deal with someone who is doing part of the work although I would sometimes consider it.

Nor would an installer give you his warrantee on a boiler your bought yourself.

I quote a transparent price of about £840 to install a boiler based on the boiler being charged at cost. But many like to quote a lower instal price and add a mark up on the boiler.

I only like copper but the cheap quotes will be based on plastic.
