Replace socket with fused spur at ring circuit socket.

Qq what’s the golden little screw inside the back box ? Initially nothing was linked to it.

Could not find any in diy store if cables are double insulated what’s the need?

I get what you are saying, but each time that the socket is pulled forward, the risk of cutting through the insulation increases.

I am guessing that is for the earth link to the back box.

I am not an electrician but I do run an earth from the face plate back to the back box.

That’s the logical explanation. The socket manual does mention leading earth to the box after I checked twice :)

you not saying in one you must comply with regs (IEE Wiring Regs?) but the other need not are you John?
I thought I was clear. No, I wasn't saying that one (anyone) 'must' comply with the regulations but, rather, that it is for anyone (including the OP) to decide whether or not he/she wants to.

I need not tell you that not everyone chooses to comply with all the regulations (or laws) all of the time, any more than they do in relation to speed limits, parking restrictions etc. etc.. What (in my opinion) matters that anyone doing electrical work should be aware of what the Wiring Regs 'require' - but it is not my place to 'police' whether or not they chose to comply with those requirements!

Kind Regards, John
