Thanks in advance - this forum has always been so helpful!

Now on to the bedroom and firstly the window. Wood frame, upvc window. I'm removing very old clear sealant which was coming away all over the place. Sealant had been used both around the window itself but also joints in the wooden framing.

Plan is to paint the wood sill and frame, leaving the UPVC as it is. Should I replace with silicone or caulk? I'm thinking silicone around the window but caulk where there's wood joining wood?

When you say "paint" I assume you're going to colour the wood rather than use a finish that leaves a wood effect (i.e. varnish)
If so, you can use caulk in the wood to wood joints, very thinly, use a finishing tool.
Window to wood you can use silicone after wood is painted or, use a paintable sealant before painting.
Or, if you're very good with silicone, you can use a coloured silicone either dark grey or whatever colour you're painting the wood.

Yes, colour paint.
Very clear helpful advice, thank you
