Replacement for Danfoss FP7898/FP/C{715

Hi. I've got what seems to be a failing unit, which refers to itself on the front flip-down panel as FP/CP715-Si and on the rear as FP7898. The problem is that the display will go blank at random times, and when it does the water and heating lights will both be lit and the boiler will turn on. Turning the power to it off and on fixes the problem each time, but it's happening increasingly frequently and so it's time for a replacement.

Reading the forums it sounds like there's no direct replacement for this unit from Danfoss that will fit the existing wall plate, but the suggestion is that many other vendors would have models that WOULD fit the plate. Current model is supporting hot water and heating, we use only what I'd consider the fairly basic programming of it having a schedule for weekdays and a different one for weekends.

I've included photos of the rear and of the wiring. Would someone be so kind as to recommend an alternative that's easy to swap over? I don't mind doing some wiring if I have to, but if there's a straight swap then that would be perfect.

Just before replacing it, I would check for a loose connection. Plenty of options available, have a look for a twin/2 channel programmer. Drayton, esi, eph, Hive to name a few. The key words to look for are industry standard backplate, or universal backplate.

Thanks, I can't see anything loose, and it feels like an odd one for a loose connection because of the fact that it works fine every single time and the power is removed and restored.

When I first searched the forums I was hopeful that it was simple given the standard backplate, but this thread suggested that the one you linked (FP720) DOESN'T have such a backplate. This one (LP722) might though, if I'm reading it right?

Ahh, apologies, I read custom backplate as a different word for universal However, yes, the Drayton should work.
