replacement stop tap

We have a 22mm x 15mm stop tap which is leaking from the stuffing gland,
and the t section cannot be removed :(

Can I replace with one of these ball valves providing i can get 22mmx15mm.

and replacing would it be shut off valve at mains, remove lead nut 1st then copper, and put on copper 1st then lead.
is this correct.

Both the pictures are for 15mm x 15 mm valves!

The stuffing box can be repacked!

The full flow valve gives less resistance and I would use it myself.

However they are not recommended because they can be knocked accidentally to the on position when they are off!

so would i remove the top nut or the top and second one down to replace the gland packing with ptfe tape.

Use scouring pad with limescale remover to clean the scale off.
Undo the top nut while holding the lower nut still.
It will go up the spindle.
Twist ptfe tape into a string and wind it a few turns round the spindle under the top nut.
Do the nut back up.
 
And no, you cannot replace the stopcock with the full flow lever valve on a mains supply, unless you also fit a double check valve (backflow prevention )
 
Thanks for all your help, its now fixed and looks a bit better.
Still stiff to operate but thats a limescale build up on the gate itself.
