Hello, my entry phone has been destroyed by a builder stepping on it. It's a good time for a refresh anyway as it looked and sounded awful. The wiring looks incredibly complicated as I don't know anything about these things, so probably will need to call someone in. But what model would you suggest to replace it with? I'm an owner of an ex council flat so don't think they'd help me, unlike if a tenant's intercom broke. Thank you..

I would visit ....intercoms r us ....website and look at handset finder , maybe give them a ring ...it’s the first place I look when I come across a old handset or modified unit ...

The council are likely to still be the building manager / factor / freeholder of your building and responsible for maintenance of the common parts including the intercom system.

Thanks a lot for the link sparkymarka, I've identified the model and sent them an inquiry about the cost of a replacement unit (it's a special order) and installation.

And OwainDIYer - good point, that could be the case, although in the lease agreement it says we are in charge of everything inside the walls of the flat. They re-wired the flats recently, and common areas like corridors, but only asked us (owners) to contribute to the cost of the latter, and did not even offer rewiring inside at all. So it's hard to tell. I'll try the private approach first. Also wonder if a council contractor would do a lazy job or give me some BS about it having to go exactly where I don't want it.
