We have a Potterton Kingfisher (about 25 years old) sited in a cellar using an existing chimney (lined)as its flue. There is no suitable external wall to site a new flue and we are struggling to find a place in the kitchen to take a new boiler. (Also we live in a thatched, listed building!)

Can anyone suggest a way to install a modern gas boiler using the existing flue? This is a planning problem as the boiler is working well at the moment. (tempting fate!).

Thanks

Atag boilers do a flexible liner.

Plus they will let you keep the boiler open flued.

5 year warranty.

Not the cheapest solution normally. But in your case. ..

Baxi also have introduced a coaxial flexible flue for their back boiler replacement unit. May fit other models too.

I am still not convinced there is no other arrangement that you could use.

You would be surprised Tony - some of the jobs I have running at the moment with listed buildings are a nightmare with the local heritage stazi.

My big oil project going in the CC needs one joining a listed building and two boilers in a cellar with no outward appearance change to the property.

Current pricing puts the flue as much if not more than the boilers.

Atag stuff is reasonably priced for the quality and pretty versatile. Doubt OP is too far from me if they can't find someone local and can wait a while ;).

Not heard a good thing about the Baxi back boilers - I think even Baxi wish they would go away.

Thanks for your thoughts and suggestions.

We think we have found a suitable outside wall (not in the kitchen) so we can look at a more conventional installation.
