Afternoon all,
It's bank holiday weekend and I find myself tampering with the plumbing again.
Some time ago I fitted a bath with a pop-up waste, which, after a few years stopped popping up.
I've dismantled it and am trying to decide if I can fix it as it is or should replace it.
When I turn the overflow spindle, I can feel the wire moving inside its conduit but the little metal rod inside the waste unit doesn't move. I reckon if I dismantle the waste unit some more, I won't be able to fix whatever's preventing the plug from rising and I think the best solution is to replace the whole lot.
Unfortunately, when I first installed it, I used silicone sealant to fix the overflow outlet to the back of the bath and the metal waste outlet to the inside of the bath (see picture attached).
My question is, what's the best way to remove the waste outlet cover and the overflow outlet from the bath without damaging it? If I can do this, there will still be some silicone attached to the bath, which I can remove to the best of my ability but I think there will still be some residue. Would fresh silicone successfully adhere to it when I install the replacement?
To avoid future frustrations, I'm going to simplify matters and order something like this:

Is anyone here familiar with this situation? Would be glad to hear any advice on offer.
