After much scratching of head and reviewing these forums I've come to the conclusion that the diverter valve on my Ferroli HE31C is at fault. All the usual symptoms including good DHW but no CHW with error code D2 when trying to call for heat.

A swift tap of the diverter valve with a good screwdriver has 'fixed' the problem so I presume the valve is sticking, so, to my question(s).

1. Do I need to replace the whole unit or is it just the 'front bit' (as has been suggested on other forum posts), which is held on with 2 painted screws (leave well alone) and 2 non painted screws that seem to attach it to the bigger (and more complicated) body. ??

2. If it is just a case of removing and replacing the front bit, do I have to drain the system down first or is there a seal behind preventing water loss.

3. And finally, where can I get one of these thingies ??

Here's hoping !!

A fairly new boiler? The fault code D2 does not show on the list of fault codes that I have. Fault codes are A or F followed by a number? If the div valve motor is faulty then they are normally changed without draining down, but not so sure with this model. Not much help I know but I guess no one is familiar with this boiler, hence the lack of replies.I suppose you have been in contact with the manufacturers?

Thanks for the reply

Boiler is about 18 months old but wasn't registered apparently so no warranty :(

D codes are 'delay' - d1 is 2 minutes delay after use of DHW, d2 is indefinite and kicks in once boiler reaches 'overheat limit' (92C I believe) and stays until boiler has cooled down to an acceptable level.

Getting info from Ferroli is like trying to get blood out of a stone + the cost of the phone call is somewhat irritating too !!

I think the motor itself is OK but I guess I'll just have to strip it and go through the process in bite size chunks

Thanks again
