Hi all
Just moved to a new house which needs few things doing.
One of them is a new front door.
Currently, there is an old pvc door with a little fanlight/transom window. It's immovable but it seems to sit in the same frame as the door.
Am I able to put in new frame and just brick up the window opening part?
Thank you

The upvc frame would’ve replaced a timber door with fanlight which is probably an original feature in the house.

To do what you want requires a lintel of sorts cut into the brickwork either side.
If the external skin is brick it really needs toothing in.

If this is a period house I’d guess the door is set back behind an entrance?

It’s all possible but it would probably end up being a visible alteration. Maybe get awayable if painted brick.

I don’t think it’s something I would do - especially if neighbours have similar feature

Thank you for your reply. Would it be possible to replace the front door without removing the window? Picture of the window attached. Second picture is what neighbours did.
