Replacing existing Ring Main Sockets with Metal Ones

indeed supplementry bonding is a mixed blessing. On the one hand it stops those metal parts that are bonded from having a potential difference between them but bonding nearly always brings earthing with it and grounding the victim better can increase the liklihood of a shock if contact with a live part happens.

Just my ten cents worth, .... By earthing the hand of the person inserting a plug, metal faceplates greatly increase the severity of any shock received.

I'll bet you've been 'doing electrics' for years, haven't you?

I would not be in the least bit surprised if you are a qualified electrician.

But, help is at hand, the IEE have published a new Guidance Note 8 - Earthing & Bonding.
