I am looking at a half-width wooden window where the external cill is partially rotted. I am hoping to replace it but don't know how, mainly because I don't know how it is structured. I am looking at american videos and they have an external piece called the "nose". Are UK cills similarly structured? If I am able to replace just the "nose", that's all I need. The rot was caused by a wood knot spilling sap, breaking paint, and letting water in. The rot is below the tip of the "nose" extending to the water drip channel that is half way between the wall and the tip.

Or have a look at Fridays post heading as below??

Dealing with sills rotting from underneath?
