Cracked it
A = 1
B = 3 correct
The issue was the reciever which actually wasnt sitting properly on the back plate. Due to its position being high it looked as though from the bottom it was fine, when in fact a piece of bent plastic was causing it to sit off frame meaning the connection was failing.
