Hi we need to replace our old oil fired Camray boiler and planning to replace with a grant vortex one. Can you please advise if this must be done by an Oftec engineer or is it Diy-able? Thanks

In England & Wales fuel burning appliances have to be notified to your LABC (Local Authority Building Control Office) if installed by an OFTEC registered Business the Engineer will "Self Certify" the work, you can do the install yourself but you will have to apply to the LABC for a Building control Document. this will cost about £100 depending on your local authority's charge scale, and for the job to be complete you will HAVE to get an OFTEC Engineer to Commission the completed work which will have to be installed correctly to meet all relevent standards.

beware! oil jobs since 2007 should be notified we are seeing endless cases whre house sales fail because the above has not been complied with!! ;)

Thanks for that, I am in Scotland so not sure if regs are different up here. Maybe check with building control next week unless anyone knows the rules for up here?
