The chrome effect on my shower door handle has started to flake off in a very unpleasant way and I'd like to replace it. I just can't figure out how get the old one off...

The photos that should be linked here show that there are a couple raised circular elements on the inside - I assumed these were caps covering screws but I just can't get them to shift. I can't get anything under them to prise them off and when I take the pliers to them, the edge of the 'cap' itself gets mashed up before I can get any movement out of it.

Should I just apply more force or am I missing something simple here? Thanks in advance for any advice...

You could drill the caps which should then be easier to remove, possibly glued in or siliconed.

Ta for that. I actually got them off using a combination of a craft knife and brute force. The screws beneath them are a different matter though - I think they'll be getting drilled out.
