Hi. I'm replacing the strip light in my kitchen and replacing it with a spotlight fitting. When it came down I found there was 9 wires in total 2 black that was together, 3 red plus a black wire all together and 3 green which I know these are earth. When I separated and tested all the live wires, with the power on, I found that the one red was live all the time, whether the light switch was on or off and the other two had no power(light switch on or off).

Would the old strip light have had a live current all the time? and could the light switch be knackered because it doesnt change when I switch on or off at the wall?

Please help.
