I need to replace a 13A fused DP switch for a 10 year old heater. The original installation instructions indicate that the switch should be compliant with BS5733. The only switches I've been able to find at my local DIY store indicate that they're BS1363/4 compliant, but don't mention BS5733.

I know that standards bodies like to move things around from time to time as they update the standards. Have they moved the standards around enough that this would be a suitable new switch for my heater? I.e. have they moved the standards for switches from BS5733 to BS1363/4?

Thanks,

JoT

AFAIK BS5733 relates to plastic back boxes.

BS1363 is the standard for 13A FCUs

BS5733 seems to be general requirements for electricial accessories, and is referenced by BS1363 (among others)

If you are replacing an FCU, then as rob says, an FCU to BS1363 is what you are looking for

BS1363 incidentally also defines the standard square pin socket outlets (BS1363/2) and the plugs that fits in them (BS1363/1) as well as plug in adapters (BS1363/3) 8)
