replacing temperature probe on Thermonet underfloor electric heating

amateur here (obviously) ..the control unit is fed from a fused/switched spur next to it , is it necessary to switch the flat's mains right off before swapping out the probe lead..or is switching off at the spur and removing its fuse from the carrier adequate before commencing? (fwiw I would feel safer doing the former but is that a bit over the top?)..interested to see what the pros would do. thanks.

It is satisfactory to switch off the FCU (Fused Connector Unit - the cable is the spur) as long as everything was installed as it should be.

If you don't know that or can't check that then switch off the main switch in the consumer unit.
