We currently have white UPVC double glazed windows and frames.

I'd like to replace it with black UPVC on the outside.

Is it possible, and how easy, is it to replace the plastic surrounds and frames? Or do I have get the window completly replaced ?

Ta.

Wouldn’t have thought you would find anyone interested in doing that, it’s just not worth the hassle. If the originals are more than around 5 years old, the glazing units may not be to current standards & so wouldn’t be suitable in any case. There is also a good chance it will be more expensive than installing new due to the extra fitting time involved removing the original glazing; & what happens if the fitter breaks one? Replacement frames is also notifyable so you must either use a FENSA company or get Building Control involved to inspect & issue a compliance certificate.

Oh :(

In that case then.... can the UPVC be painted with a 'special' paint to give a decent finish?

I’ve used black yacht enamel made by International on faded grey PVC guttering before & it stayed on there OK but it’s quiet expensive compared to the ordinary stuff; decent finish is really down to the brush skills of the person doing the painting!

Painting plastic guttering is one thing...

but when you start painting upvc window frames...

I think you might be missing the point.
