Hi

I have started stripping the wall paper off my parents 1960's house, the wall paper is coming off ok and I suspect its been on the walls for about 30 years.

I am keen to prepare the walls for painting, looking at the attached pictures of the walls. Do you think it's best to pay a plasterer or try the PolyCell all in one paint to line the walls?

Due to the state of the walls I have assumed I can't simply sand and fill them before painting.

Looking for advice please.

Thanks in advance.

It really does depend of your aesthetic sense of requiring the finnish to be perfect or not , your time available and budget.

If you fill and sand then the filled parts may flash underneath the paint because of the difference in texture.

You will also have to make sure all old paste is washed off.

I filled and sanded and used a thick coating paint but i'm not fussy, and I had a low budget and some time.
