Does anyone know if you can re-spray wooden furniture like you re-spray a car and if so how you do it?>

You can respray wooden furniture, but getting a good finish will depend on what was there already and what you do to get rid of it
If the furniture was waxed, you need to strip every bit of it (which is a job in itself without leaving residue) as new cellulose or pre-cut laquer won't stick and will react to the old finish. Some acid catalysed laquers react to what was underneath too! if what was underneath was cellulose laquer, then in theory you could respray with cellulose after a good sanding, making sure you de-nib between coats will give you a good finish. The key is to kno what finish you are sparying over.
I hope that helps
