Hello,

Could someone please offer me some advice on how to restore some engineered wood flooring. The previous owners of my house layed the flooring approximately 5 years ago and it is a thick board, of good quality and I believe the wood is a beech finish. The floor has become scratched and appears to have lost its sheen through use and so I would like to know if it can be sanded down and then a new 'sheen' applied (Varnish/lacquer etc)? After sanding, what is generally used to give the floor its shine back?

Bit of a novice at this so apologies if it dosn`t make sense!

Thanks
Sara

Hi Sarah

Have you tried to apply some suitable for varnished floors maintenance polish? Minor scratches will fade and it might regain its shine again.

If that doesn't work you can always resolve to sanding it down.
