I'm refurbishing some timber framed fixed windows and am in the process of enlarging the rabbet so as to enable fitting of slimline DGUs.

Looking at the cavity, I balanced some scrap pieces of timber within to simulate muntins and rather like the look.

Would it be possible to retrofit proper muntins, securely - not stick on to the glass jobs - but proper muntins which would result in a number of individual glazed panels. I've seen some complex looking instructions for doing windows from scratch but the rails and stiles need mortices with the muntins having corresponding tenons but my windows already fixed in place so I can't see how I would fit things together

the cost off 6 d/g units will be far more expensive
you will loose about 10-20% off the light coming through the window
