Rich tax-dodgers were bluffing

Rich or well off people pay significantly more tax than the people on lower incomes

A person on £100k pays about £32k in taxes
A person on £25k pays about £3.5k

Those are facts but JohnD doesn’t like them
I have never been surprised that people with a lot of money pay more tax than people with a little.

You seem not to understand, that's how tax is supposed to work.

Anybody who complains that he has a lot of money and pays a lot of tax ought to live through the alternative.

I don't know why it is that murdochcat pretends never to have heard of VAT.

When the Sunday Times broke the news that David Reuben, one of the richest men in the UK, had apparently fled to the tax haven of Monaco... Labour’s tax regime was blamed - It was reported that he had probably left because of potential taxes on wealth in the upcoming budget.

However, research by TaxWatch has found that Reuben, 88, has been a tax resident in Monaco since at least 2014.

Labour MP Clive Lewis commented: “It’s instructive that there is a grouping of commentators who put on the scare tactics to say the wealthy are leaving this country. We can see that many of these billionaires don’t reside here anyway, many of them do stay here, and those who want to go, we can’t stop them anyway. This has always been the case.”

It’s billionaires doing what they do, I.e. holidaying. They all move about amongst their properties whilst dishonest right wing rags claim 'exodus' as soon as a left government is in power.
A couple of hundred tax dodgers isn’t going to worry the treasury.

A couple of hundred extremely wealthy people who correctly and legally pay tax in line with the current rules and regulations isn’t going to worry the treasury.
Corrected that for you. You’re welcome.

Are you now taking JohnD's line that someone who obeys the letter of the law and only pays the tax they are due to pay are labelled a "tax dodger"? You know what that makes you, don’t you?
