Rising Damp

It looks like I have rising damp in my internal walls in the middle of the house, the house was built just after the war, so is getting on a bit. Has anyone any experience of the best method of getting rid of this, all the different companies have their own way and they are all the best, if you know what I mean. I also have laminate flooring on top of ashfelt, which appears to be damp underneath, coming away from the same walls, do I need to get this lifted and re-done?

Perhaps, ask the mods to transfer your post to the Building Forum?

Research in the building and plastering forums for "damp" - there's masses of information and pics.

Posting pics on here would help.

Maybe moisture is coming thro the concrete slab and asphalt was laid as a damp membrane.

Are any of your other floors suspended?

Are there any signs of DPC's in the walls?

Any signs of damp and discoloring higher up, say 300mm, any walls?

Have you removed and examined the back of any skirting boards?

Is your house on a hill?
