roof insulation

Have just bought a house in France where there is no felt under the roof tiles and no insulation.

I want to insulate between rafters what product should I use - I do not want to take of the tiles and lay felt and roof is in good condition.

Celotex or Kingspan or whatever the French equivalent is.

would I need to leave a gap between the tile and the insulation material ?

If so, is there a particular method to do this ? (sorry I am a novice at this, as you can probably gather)

Well I'm not familar with French regulations etc however the gap would be 50mm in the UK although as you've no felt the tiles will breath so I guess a 50mm gap wont make much difference but have a look here: http://www.insulation.kingspan.com/uk/pdf/k7.pdf
