Hi, I am new to this forum, was looking for diy project and information for room insulation and got DIYnot. :)

I do diy for what I need but my knowledge is little so every-time I do something, youtube and google!

Yesterday I decide to remove everything from my room so I can start an insulation, recuperation and decor project from scratch.

Now I am a bit lost, I want to get some material to insulate the main wall as below pictures, but I don't want to loose much space. Please can you give me some advise?

main wall is a cavity wall and is not cavity insulated, very cold ... >*

Also I am thinking to screw a thin plasterboard in the ceiling to make it smooth, would it be alright? or is against correct practices?

Hope is clear enough thank you guys!

you say you want to insulate the main wall. You say it is cavity but does not have cavity insulation.

So get cavity insulation.

Also add loft insulation.

What's wrong with the ceiling?

I have been researching about cavity wall insulation and it seems fantastic but it can go wrong as well as it can hold in moister and cause dampening in the house. That's why I would rather insulate the internal walls.

The ceiling is decorated with swirl pattern plastering and I want to make it smooth without much trouble that's why I am thinking to add a layer of plasterboard.

is yours an old house, with defective walls, then, and wind blowing rainstorms against it? What makes you think CWI can cause "dampening of the walls?"

The main wall is more vulnerable to wind and rain and it needs some repairs which I intend to do hopefully soon!
