room thermostat v TRV's

At the moment my house is set up with a modern condensing combi (baxi 105HE) and each radiator in the house has a TRV. the boile ris controlled only by its own built in clock and heat settings.

The house gets very hot when the heating is on, even with the TRVs on low, but drops cold quite quickly once its off. at the moment i have the clock set such that the heating is coming on and going off lots of times during the day.

I'm wondering if there is any advantage in using a room thermostat to control the system, such that I can keep the heting on more but have the rooms at a more comfortable, even, temperature? what do you think, would a room thermostat only do what the TRVs are doing, or could it give me more controlled efficent room heating? i've seen a wireless Baxi one especially for the boiler, but its £110 and don't want to waste my money

Forget thw Baxi one, go for the Honeywell CM927.

All systems recently upgraded should now have a roomstat fitted by law, in a room that has no TRV on the radiator.

I hope that not EVERY radiator has a TRV on it.... as mentioned in the last post, there should be one rad without any on as a 'bypass'....

I didn't realise that. is that from the building regs? So if I want to use a wireless room stat, should I remove the TRVs and replace with lockshields? Do you think using the room stat would be better than the TRVS

and, yes, I do have one small rad in the former airing cupboard that acts as a by-pass

Just remove the TRV in the room that you put the stat in, or just take the head off/leave it on full.
