Bought a Sangamo rstat1 to replace old honeywell thermostat.
There are 3 wires, yellow (live) blue and red (live).
Sangamo diagram not very clear as to what wires go where ?.
Connections on the Sangamo diagram say 3=Heating load. 4=Cooling Load and 1=L.
Will this have an effect on the Greenstar RI boiler ?.
There is no green light on the boiler and there is no central heating
even though time clock is set to continuous. There is hot water

If what you write is correct, then -

Red to 1
Yellow to 3
Safely terminate and position the Blue.

Did as you directed although no effect on the boiler.
Green light still hasn't come on and no CH.
Any further suggestions ?

This seems to be wiring diagram for boiler, Lr is the boiler terminal to make it run seen going to SW in the wiring centre, so that needs to go to number 3, but there is no colour code for wiring a boiler, we would expect blue to be neutral but there is no fixed colour code so either you have to look at boiler, or old thermostat to work out which wire is which.

I threw away the old honeywell.
Should the CH work regardless of the thermostat ?

If you join 1 & 3 together, do you still get nothing?

Which wires were connected to what terminals in the old stat?

I stupidly threw away the old stat.
If I join 1 and 3 together, yellow and red you mean ?
And if I were to totally disconnect the thermostat ?
What should happen ? Is the CH dependent on the
thermostat ?

I connected the yellow and red together (1 and 3) but no change.
No green light on the boiler

Is swapping out the stat the only change you have made?

Yes. I simply removed a very dirty, grubby old Honeywell stat for a new Sangamo Rstat1.
Have not made any other changes

If you are sure that red is the feed in and yellow the switched feed to the boiler, then I'm a bit stuck.
