I have read on one of forum replies that a room stat should be fitted even when all the rads have got trv,s,does this make my system unsafe,I have a worcester 28i combi and trv,s on all rads bar the bathroom rad but do not have a room stat.My system was fitted 2years ago in a small bungalowand I have 5 rads.regards

no it dont make it unsafe at all . its now a requirement to fit an electrical interlock on heating to reduce running costs therefore reduce your carbon footprint.

ideally room stat should be fitted in living room or lounge and radiators in that room shouldnt have trvs fitted

But i wouldnt worry about it too much mate lifes too short as long as it works ok ;)

You put the wall mounted room thermostat in the room you use most. Usually the living room. The rest are controlled by TRV's. Or, despite the regs, you fit a system without a roomstat which monitors the flow in the system and interupts the boiler until flow is re-established.
Some boilers can do this, electronically, some can't.
If they can't, then the boiler keeps firing to keep itself warm, wasting fuel. I think the final answer is TRV's all round, no roomstat, but a system which can detect when heat is required. Needs some electronics, if not built into the boiler.

Would reccomend a programmable room stat if your going to the trouble of fitting one. This is now gonna neead a part P person if i inderstand legislation.
