Rover 25 misfire

My Daughters Rover 25 2001 14i Has developed a misfire when being driven
it will run perfectly for a few day then suddenly start to play up.

Could it be the fuel filter? to be honest, I haven't a clue.

I don't think the fuel filter would give you a misfire, It sounds like an electrical problem. Try changing the spark plugs and leads.
