I'm currently planning a single storey rear extension with a knock through into the current living room. Before speaking to a SE, I'd like to clarify if what I'm thinking of doing is possible..

I am hoping to have a steel installed where the current patio doors are, but would like to lose the current external wall that sits to the left of the doors. Is it possible that the padstones for the steel can be buried in the left hand external wall, giving me a flat wall all along the existing living room/extension?

Semi... But the right hand wall in the pictures is the party wall between us.

Ok, should still be feasible.. best scenario is a simple downstand beam with padstones each end.. but could be a goal post arrangement is required with new founds..

Brilliant, thanks very much for your help. Lets hope it's the former!

Goal post wouldn't be necessary - there's sufficient wall between the study and the extended lounge.
