hi guys
can anyone tell me if it would be acceptable to fit a beam in 2 or 3 pieces bolted together. This is for a loft conversion in a terraced house and so to install in 1 piece would need the roof to be removed. Thus putting the job out of reach (price).

Yes it is acceptable to join steels with plates and bolts but you need to consult a structural engineer to be on the safe side.
