Running a moulding

Guys , I`ve got a wall under a bay window where the spread has made a nice job rolling the walls round ...But then the chippy has tried to cut skirting to fit . I`d like to have a go @ running a moulding to match the skirting- and look really cool in my 30`s bungalow. Any help with the plaster mix/ technique ? Thanks.

It’s pretty much a dead art now I think & I’ve certainly never tried it personaly, however, I seem to remember there was a similar post on the Forum some time ago but it could have been 3 years or even more. Have a search through the archive as I seem to remember there was some good practical advice given.

There are a few ways of doing this.

First of all, is the bay window radius gentle enough so that you could fix a batten the thickness of the skirting.(score th back , soak it in water and bend it in.) or a length of PVC beading along it? This will make life easier.

You could try two battens half the thickness of the skrting, one on top of the other, as this will bend in easier ie put one on foirst , then the other.

When I have to follow a curved wall with skirting, I tend to use short sections of skirting board glued onto the wall, infilled with polyfiller andn sanded smooth. With a bit of patience, you can get a pretty good finish doing it this way.

Thanks, Guys.... I`ll go with the skirting- cuts, maybe even try steaming it.
