It needs to be replaceable - okay, I'll run it in 40mm pipe. How do I bring it up though for rads without having concealed 90 degree fittings? Are two access boxes per rad and at each bend in teh pipe the only way?

You could use flexi conduit instead of 40mm pipe. Don't use any elbows. Sweep the pipe and fix it to a batten at the correct centers for the rad. Thats the beauty of plastic. No joints below the surface and pipe retreivable.

Its not good practice but a lot of builders just bury the plastic pipe directly in the concrete!

I like to put it in insulation.

Flexi conduit has a good insulating action because of the air gap.

Conduit pipe rather than 40mm.
Personally I don't like screed. Big mess if there is anything wrong.
Give me wood floors any day. And not that nasty chipboard stuff.
