Hi,
I've taken the carpet up in my dining room and have found some pine orange floorboards underneath. I can't live with the colour, so I was going to use a darker dye on them.
I have started to sand them down myself, but have given up as I am knocking on a bit and am a little short of time, so the surface is still a bit patchy.
Someone has recommended using polyurethane varnish over the top, which would mean I wouldn't have to sand right back to the original wood, to apply dye/stain.
Has anyone any experience of this varnish?
Thanks all,
SB

Yes.

I did an entire lounge and hallway floor with it, about ten years ago. It hasn't aged, worn, cracked, wrinkled, discoloured, or anyfink.

I did sand the floors down first though.

maybe hire a bigger sander? it is very dusty work though

the tool hire shops have them and sell the sanding belts to fit. you have to punch the nail heads down or they will tear the belt.
