Salamander Homeboost keeps cutting out and restarting

Hi all,

Looking for some advice on a new Salamander Homeboost I've recently had fitted.

Measuring from the kitchen tap, I get around 4 l/min without the pump, and about 8 l/min with the pump running (so a fair improvement). The pump ramps up to high speed when the tap is on and runs OK for a short while. It can run for about 20-30 seconds without any issues (sometimes less), but as it tends to randomly cut out and restart again.

I've made a video to demo this: demo video

So it's like: Standby > ramps up to full speed > intermittently cuts out for about 5 seconds > restarts and ramps up to full speed > cuts out > repeats etc.

The time it stays running for is very inconsistent, like it can run fine for 20-30 seconds before it cuts out, or it might just run for a few seconds before cutting out and then ramping up again. When it cuts out, the LED goes to fully on (standby) and then flashes in the corners (sufficient flow). So I figure it's cutting out because it thinks it's reached the max of 12 l/min, but I'm not seeing the flow get above 8 l/min.

Wondering if this is normal behaviour (not getting much help from Salamander Support)? It gets quite annoying watching the pump frequently ramping up and cutting out. When it reaches the 12 l/min max, shouldn't the pump slow down rather than just cut out completely and then ramp up again short after?

The plumber suggested that the flow rate from the mains might be too low. If the supply is somewhat "starved", would it help to put a water accummulator in front of the Homeboost pump? To make sure it's kept adequately supplied? Or maybe after the pump so that the water is stored ready for use?

Thanks all!

What is doing is called 'hunting '
Assuming the pump feeds all your cold water chances are it's a ball valve or a tap not quite closing.
I much prefer the Stuart Turner mainsboost flomate.

Hi
I have the exact same issue with my current home boost. I have had their product with no issues for 8 years. I replaced it when it started to go off by itself with no leaks or anything to cause it. As I had been really happy upto then with the product I got another one. The first replacement worked fine but then started to be really noisy so I had it replaced under warranty. This one cut out after about 2 minutes (always around that time) and then revs up again, and then will continue to cut out every minute. I have had several visits from plumbers so confident there is no issue with supply. I get at worst around 4 - 5 LPM on a bad day (peak time) so I should be meeting the 3plm requirement, and as I said, the last product worked like a dream for 8 years.
Interestingly (or maybe not!) the 2 that worked has the red salamander logo, now it's green so wonder if Salamander did a remodel and now it's just too sensitive.
Anyway I am not getting any further with Salamander ...I don't suppose they will acknowledge there is a fault with the design untill more people report the issue, so will look at other options. I would appreciate any suggestions
Thanks

Unfortunately Salamander are not what they were.
We fit nothing but Stewart Turner
Very little trouble and I live/work in a area with water described as 'aggressively hard'.
