Dear all

I have a problem with my Salus thermostat, I have set the programm for the heating to come on at 6am, then 5 and 8 pm and thats it. However it does come on during the night at any random time (it could well be happening during the day while I am at work).

I am having to get up at night to switch it off coz its unbearably hot, I have checked the manual, looks like I have programmed it correctly, i dont know whats going on, its like the thermostat has a mind of its own, kicking off at very strange times.

Please help? why would this be happening? Faulty thermostat? user error?

thanks in advance

Seriously? Salus are rubbish?

If i buy a new thermostat, is it easy to get it connected to my boiler then or how does it work??

tou have answered yourself in your post....... you have 3 "on" times

you say 1st ON 6am TEMP 20

2nd OFF ?? TEMP ??

3rd ON 5pm TEMP 20

4th OFF ?? TEMP ??

5th ON 8pm TEMP 20

therefore your htg is on 8 PM till whenever your second OFF is programmed for

Hi all and many thanks for your replies. The model is RF500RT i believe.

How do I set the "off" temperature?

My programme is:

6am - 18 degrees (i believed it goes of when reaches 20? might be wrong, as I didnt set the "off" temp)
5pm - 20 degrees
8 am - 18 degrees
10am - 10 degrees

Thats it, I was under the impression that it shouldnt come on again between 10pm and 6 am?

what I did last night was I set all temperatures at 10 degrees, the heating didnt come on at all last night (heaven), as obviously the temp didnt drop below 10 degrees.

Should no 3 be 8pm and no 4 10pm?

Firstly, there is no such thing as an "off" temperature.

The Salus has five time/temperature settings. If you set no 1 to 6am/18C and no 2 to 5pm/20C, the heating will turn on at 6am and warm the room up to 18C. It will continue to maintain 18C until 5pm. It then raises the temperature to 20C and stays the until the next change at (8pm?), when the required temperature drops to 18C. It maintains 18C until 10 (pm?) when the required temperature drops to 10C. Which should mean the boiler goes off overnight. But as you have found. it does not. This is because there is a fifth time/temperature setting. The default for this is 10pm/17C and this is what is keeping your boiler on overnight.

Set no 5 to 10pm/10C and you won't have any more trouble.

So you could set:

1. 6am/18C
2. 11am/18C
3. 5pm/20C
4. 8pm/18C
5. 10pm/10C

THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU

it makes sooo much sense now (yes No 3 and 4 should be pm of course)

you are such a great help, bunches of thanks to you !!!

:)
