Sand and cement screeding

Hello,

Going to give sand and cement screeding a go. Don’t think I’ve quite got the skills to build up my levels with screed around the perimeter and work of this for my levels.

So would it be possible to set a timber batten around the perimeter for my level and work of this to get a flush level finish? I could leave a gap around the batten to unscrew and pullout once screed is dry and then infill the gap with floor leveller/screed

Current floor is made up of a concrete pad, insulation and then polythene sheet.
