Hi

I need to paint over some external woodwork satinwood. What kind of sandng should I do, is a bit of 180/200 grit going to be enough. Isn't it just to key it in ???

The paint is not in bad nick but as I'm getting scaff and won't be up there for 10 years seems I should do it.

Also there is a finial that was mistakenly painted gloss, I suppose I need to sand that right back and reprime ?

Cheers

180/200 grit should be fine. As you say, you are just providing a key.

The gloss finial, again 180/200g but I would recommend applying an undercoat before the satinwood. They take a lot of weathering and are difficult to access.
