"Savings" calculation for solar PV with storage batteries?

Resurrecting an old thread but thought it worth mentioning that I’ve now installed a “backup box” to our solar and battery system which is basically a changeover contactor box that allows off grid usage and disconnects from your the grid. My inverter is capable of supplying 5kw in “off grid” mode. To do this, I’ve had to install a second consumer unit which deals with “critical” loads whilst the original consumer unit deals with everything else. So, with that in mind, with a full battery pack I’m able to maintain most of the home for around 20 hours without being on grid. The critical load consumer unit supplies the 2 ring finals, heating and lighting circuits.

I did have to install an earth electrode to provide an earth for the off grid scenario.

When the grid is connected and all is well, both consumer units are provided with either grid power or solar/battery power as per the normal.
