Scantronic 9800 - omitting zones - help please

I have a Scantronic 9800, and I've been trying to omit zones for a "part set". As per the instructions I have : entered my security code, pressed button "B", pressed the "OMIT" (a "o" appears in the panel display), pressed the zone number (there is a beep and the panel display changes to "--").
The part zone set does not appear to have happened.
Can anyone advise me please.

your panel appears to be not set up for omit zone feature.
contact your installer to change this, as its an engineer only change
